Moonlights #9
Listen 🎧
Every few weeks, I’ve been dropping in some of my favorite new songs. I’ll still add new music in the newsletter, but if you don’t want to tap the individual songs, you can add these playlists to your library, and I’ll update them periodically.
Watch 🍿
This was my favorite thing I watched all week. The animation and illustration work is 💯
3 second animation of a ball. Pass it to someone in another country. They pick up where you left off.
Look 👀
Ukraine DAO was formed on Feb 24th, created by people all around the world to help Ukrainians on the ground. They’ve collected over 6 million dollars of donations as of yesterday, and that number continues to climb. I have no words for how devastating the current situation in Ukraine is. I’m sure most people feel completely helpless watching it happen, so it’s encouraging to see all of the different ways we can help from afar.
Peace and love, not war 🇺🇦

My top article of the week was Why Are Letters Shaped the Way They Are?
One of my favorite parts was the Bouba / Kiki effect. Most people associate the word bouba with rounder objects and kiki with pointy ones. This study spanned across 25 languages and ten different writing systems, which is sooo cool 😎
Letters, shapes, colors, and sounds help create emotion, and although there are hundreds and thousands of languages around the world, it’s cool to see some of the bits and pieces that are universal.
From Me 🎒
“I like to step into areas where I am afraid. Fear is a sign that I am going in the right direction.” – April Greiman
I came across this quote last week, and I’ve been thinking about it a lot. How many times have we stopped doing something because we were fearful? I’m trying to get better at recognizing that feeling, taking a deep breath, and pushing myself forward.
Here’s another painting to close out the week ⬇️
