What is it?

I love finding new and old gems on the internet. I spend a lot of my time on a computer and I see a lot of music, photos, quotes, podcasts, youtube videos, threads, new apps, designs, art, etc. Each week, I review all of the things I’ve come across and give you my four favorites + a personal update on current projects and experiments I’m working on (art collections, new brand design work, photography, and more).

Who am I?

My name is Michael Brooks Jr., co-founder of Sunflower, a founding partner at MBLA and a design partner at Form Capital. I also consult as a designer for several growth-stage companies. With more than ten years of experience in founding and leading early-stage ventures, my passion lies in designing and creating products that enhance the quality of life for people. I also have a deep passion for brand design and art direction.

I grew up working in my family's photography business, which sparked my interest in all things visual. I went to Clemson University, where I studied graphic communications and was a leading goal-scorer for the varsity soccer team. My professional journey included stints at global agencies like BBH in New York City and Ogilvy in San Francisco before I relocated to Tennessee, where I played semi-pro soccer for a few years. I co-founded Spire, Rove, and Peak Money—companies each aimed at boosting the health and happiness of millions. My work has been showcased on Apple's main stage at WWDC and featured in TIME, CNN, Fast Company, and Entrepreneur Magazine, among over a hundred other publications.

Currently, I live in Nashville, Tennessee. Some of my other passions include creating and collecting art, rooting for the Packers, making playlists, cooking, playing basketball, being curious, and staying positive.
